On this episode of By His Grace, I interview Ginny Owens. Ginny became a household name as the Gospel Music Association’s 2000 New Artist of the Year. Growing in notoriety as both a singer and a songwriter, winning 3 Dove awards and multiple ASCAP Awards along the way, Owens has sold over a million records over the course of her career. A top performer on the Christian radio charts with hits like “If You Want Me To,” “Free” and “I Wanna Be Moved” among others, Owens has released no less than 11 full albums and 3 EPs, and her music has also impacted mainstream audiences at Lilith Fair, the Sundance Film Festival and the White House.
Ginny and I discuss the importance of holding on to faith despite our circumstances. In the face of hardships outside of her control, Owens adapted and overcame. She relies on the truth in scripture and the songs sung in seasons of darkness to inspire and encourage others. In the interview, she drives home crucial points about the strength we find in a relationship with Jesus, our response to life’s challenges, and the sufficiency of the Lord to meet our every need.
Key Takeaways
- “Jesus is our best friend.”
- “Believe His strength is our only hope.”
- “His voice has to be the loudest thing in our hearts.”
- “His song has to be the thing that’s on repeat.”
- “Being honest about our weakness helps us to form true strength.”
- “Whether you can see or not, we all face some sort of darkness.”
- “Who do we want more than God and why?”
- “What does it mean for us to look to Him as our true source and to praise Him no matter what is going on?”
- “I will keep saying what my mind knows is true and finally my heart is going to catch up.”
- “Come to Him. He is everything we need.”
- “No matter what kind of fire we’re walking through, He wants to hold us through it.”

On this episode of By His Grace, I interview Sandi Lucas. Sandi Lucas is the founder and CEO of the Blaze Planner. Sandi’s journey in founding The Blaze Planner® was many years in the making. In fact, she has been on a quest to design a planner for women that could help them live intentionally for the glory of God since she was in her twenties. An avid student of time management and organization tips, she has amassed a library full of books, attended many seminars, and found herself still struggling to “keep it all together.” Then she discovered the great paradox – when you surrender to God in ALL areas of life …. You WIN – no matter if every little thing is in its place or not. Vowing to share this revolutionary approach with young and more seasoned women alike, Sandi created the foundation for this planner called The Blaze Lighthouse Process™ – that equips women to put the principles of the Bible into practice every day.
Sandi balanced this approach herself while raising her children and working full time in the high technology industry. She has lead sales teams for Fortune 100 and 200 companies and was a senior leader in the semiconductor realm for over 30 years. She is involved in her local church and leads a prayer group in her county that focuses on biblical public policy.
Sandi is married to her husband of over 30 years and has 4 grown daughters and one precious grandson. She and her husband Luke reside in a small town near Houston, Texas
We discuss purpose, seasons, and calling, the components of The Blaze planner, and how the Lord has worked in Sandi’s life in the area of organization.
Key Takeaways
- “Maybe you have a call on your life, but it is not the right time.”
- “We are ambassadors for Christ. We are to occupy until He comes again.”
- “Your little bitty everyday decisions are what keeps you on the narrow path for a lifetime.”
- “Even the good things can be the enemy of the best.”

Not too long ago, I asked God a question that was both simple and profound. I wanted to know the answer to this question because I knew that God’s response would shape the trajectory of my life and impact the way that I walked with Him in the days to come. “God, Where do my gifting and my calling line up?”
I petitioned through prayer.
Shortly after, God began showing me how my gifts for connecting people, gathering them together, and encouraging them could be used to uplift and inspire Christian podcasters. Almost one year ago, on February 21st and 22nd 2020, I hosted the first inaugural Spark Christian Podcast Conference in order to encourage believers to spread the message of Jesus far and wide through Christian podcasting. Since following this call, I have seen the Lord open numerous doors for the advancement of the gospel.
I want to share one of these opportunities with you all today, the World Women’s Wholeness Summit.
I have recently been given the opportunity to share about the hope that I have in Jesus to a very large audience. I will be speaking at the World Women’s Wholeness Summit alongside many distinguished pastors, teachers, and leaders who are on fire for Jesus. Over the course of the three-day event, there will be 80 speakers. Some of these include Darlene Zschech from Hillsong, and my friends Gari Meacham, Kate Battistelli, and Dr. Susan Mead, Quinn Kelly, Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith, and many more.
Women, I hope that you will join us for this incredible event on March 5-7, 2021. The Lord Wants to Bring You Into Wholeness, Fullness, and Purpose! This a move of God that addresses every wholeness & purpose need for women at this critical time in history. Topics include:
Your Wholeness
Your Breakthrough
Your Word from The LORD
Your Open Door to the Purpose of God in Your Life
This is your invitation to be a part of World Women’s Wholeness Summit 2021 where you’ll learn to live whole, on purpose with the Lord, living and serving in your sweet spots, without hindrances. Watch ONLINE by yourself, with a group of girls, or invite your whole Church! Register now for FREE.

On this episode of By His Grace, I did something a bit different and recorded a solo episode. I share the importance of walking in our calling and knowing our purpose. I also share about how you can work with me to launch or grow a podcast.
Key Takeaways
“Don’t allow the enemy to hold you back in fear or distract you from fulfilling your purpose.”
“Walking in our purpose requires grit, hard work, determination, and perseverance, but in our own strength, we are pitiful. It is the Holy Spirit fire and resurrection power that lives within us that equips us to do every good thing.”
“We are all running a race and we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus.”
“Our calling is a divinely inspired strong inner impulse that leads us to action in our vocation or profession.”
“Our callings should inspire us to do amazing things in the Kingdom of God.”
“God has you here for a purpose and He has work for you to do. God doesn’t just want to you just survive, He wants you to thrive in your calling.”

Am I being faithful to God’s call in the small?
by Anthea Kotlan
Am I being faithful in the small? Am I taking on those kingdom assignments that involve just one or two other people? Is this a season of preparation? Am I willing to allow for interruptions? (I’m not sure if we really have a choice on this one.) Am I willing to take a long obedience in the same direction even when the destination seems unclear? This is all part of hearing the calling on our lives as believers and those who follow after Jesus.
- Listen for that still small voice
Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; 12 and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire, and after the fire a still small voice.
(I Kings 19:11-12 NKJV)
When God spoke to Elijah, it was not the sky parting, booming voice of overwhelming power, it was the still small voice that came after a demonstration of God’s power. Am I listening for that voice closely or allowing the noise of the world to drown it out?
- Let your words be small (few)
Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil. 2 Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore, let your words be few.
(Ecclesiastes 5:1-2 ESV)
Am I so eager to tell God how it is that I miss out on His message for me? Can I be willing to wait to hear His voice? It simply takes time to hear from God. For some of us, it takes time to reach a point of being able to be quiet long enough to hear from Him, rather than the voice inside our head that keeps barking out directions. Take five minutes to sit in silence, ask the Lord to speak, and really listen. Set a timer if necessary
He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you
but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
(Micah 6:8 ESV)
Small steps in obedience in pace with God is a demonstration of humility. Am I willing to wander as I travel with Him? I can’t all be so hyper-focused on the destination that I miss the journey. How often have I missed some of the gifts God had for me by rushing ahead to what I thought was the finish line? Staying in step with God may appear to be small progress to the others but walking close is most essential.
Join me on the journey in being faithful in the small,
